Do you need support for providing Conflict Minerals Declarations?

The Dodd-Frank Act (Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act) contains amongst others obligations concerning reporting and disclosing the use of conflict minerals. Under the act, those minerals include tin, tantalum, gold and tungsten originated from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and its neighboring states.

Within the framework of disclosing, companies have to determine, if the mentioned minerals were used in products manufactured by this company (Conflict Mineral Declaration). The rule does not apply if minerals were used within the manufacturing process but not remain in the product itself.

The Dodd-Frank Act primary applies to companies that file reports with the SEC under the Exchange Act. However, because of its scope alongside the whole supply chain of the affected company up to smelter and mines, suppliers and sub-contractors are also affected.

Our solution for Conflict Minerals communication: Software plus service!

In order to convey information, the Conflict-Free Sourcing Initiative (cfsi) developed a Conflict Minerals report template, which makes the transfer of information along the delivery chain easier with regards to the mineral’s country of origin, smelting plants and refineries. You can easily and comfortably call up the required information from your supplier with our software’s Conflict Minerals Module, MDS.web. MDS.web is a web-based system used to communicate material data, information on regulated materials and safety data sheets. Conflict Minerals is one of many modules alongside REACH, RoHS, SDB and others. (MDS.web)
